Inspired by turmoil in American politics over the last decade including the attempted Jan 6th coup and cult of personality surrounding former president Trump. Hypocrisy and disaster capitalism images of dystopia and a happy meal ending.

It Just Won't Pass (aka You've Got Your Head Up Your Ass) was originally recorded on the Jubilee "O" Kindness album from 1987. Just some well to do happy go lucky synth boys letting their hair down too much. One night it caught up to them. Damage is an American hardcore band playing punk rock on synthesizers. One night they invited G.G. Allin over. It did not go well.

This rehearsal recording from 1985 captures Damage messing around with a raucous rendition of Jaywalk. Jack McGowan is rocking the drums with savage energy in the "pre-Skeeter" era. Bass keyboardist Mike Buchanan flashing his warm smile, Tyler having fun clowning around on vocals, and Mike Brown on lead synth and always the loudest in the room. This video captures the silly, noisy, punk rock energy of the band better than many of the studio recordings.

Mike Brown of Orlando synth hardcore band Damage shares the story of the band’s journey through Central Florida’s underground music scene. The band started out as Brain Damage, but shortened the name to Damage for a gig at a Chuck E. Cheese, of all places. From there, things took off. One of their most iconic shows was opening for the Dead Kennedys at the Syrian Lebanese Hall in Orlando. Mike talks about the band’s lineup over the years, venues, and various shows and scenes across Florida. He also shares what it was like to bring Damage back after nearly 35 years. We dig into the origins of Space Fish Records, Splash Zine, and Club Space Fish. The club hosted countless shows, but is most remembered for the infamous GG Allin performance that ultimately led to its closure. DAMAGE was one of the early pioneers in utilizing synthesizers in live performance of punk and hardcore music. Their early adventures in synthpunk led to purchases of gear at Radio Shack, including line mixers, cables, adapters, and a synthetic voice card for their TRS-80 computer. Everything failed, leading to an ongoing antagonism between the band and the electronics retailer. Decades later, Radio Shack is gone, and DAMAGE survives, still occasionally using their Realistic Concertmate synth.
